THE YEARS IN BETWEEN – A REPORTER’S JOURNEY: WORLD WAR II-THE COLD WAR IS A MEMOIR BY AWARD-WINNING JOURNALIST MARGARET CROYDEN, COVERS THE YEARS BETWEEN WORLD WAR II AND THE COLD WAR
Margaret Croyden is a well-known theater critic and journalist who has traveled around the world covering stories for the New York Times, Village Voice and other publications. Croyden was a provincial Brooklyn girl dreaming of a glamorous career as a Broadway star when she joined an acting unit that entertained the troops in Europe as World War II was coming to an end. She soon found herself “embedded” with American occupation troops in France and Germany after the war, an experience that would eventually launch her transformation into a widely experienced international journalist.
According to Ms. Croyden, the idea for this – her fourth book – was triggered by the events of 9/11 and the Iraq War which brought to mind her memories of her long ago first encounters with war. Drawlng from diaries, tapes and memories, she recounts her youthful adventures and struggles, and a later transformation, this time political, by her visits to such faraway places as Paris and Berlin again, and her assignments in Moscow, Leningrad, Beirut and Jerusalem to report on the cultural and political issues of the day. A terrific story teller, she enlivens her experiences with recollections of her interviews with prominent figures of the Cold War, Her vivid descriptions, which make for good reading, reveal a sharp mind, a critical eye and a fierce dedication to the truth, traits which would affect her relations with the people she met and reported on and which, on occasion, would drastically alter her views of the world.

Hello friends!
It’s worth mentioning that my collected works have been archived in Yale University’s Sterling Memorial Library. Included in the archived collection are approximately 50 taped interviews with Peter Brook and other theater figures to original manuscripts.
Much of the archives are available ”electronic resources” through Yale’s online database.
Thank you,
Margaret
